Square Mile Coffee: Peanut Butter Project

Introducing Peanut Butter. A rich, sweet, gooey espresso that is everything we love well-nigh nut butters crammed into a limited edition espresso tousle – 100% moreish, totally succulent and exactly how you want nuttiness to show up in your coffee: sweet, linty and ridiculously tasty.

SO, WHY NUTS?

Firstly, considering it is succulent and fun. Also, considering nuts and nutty are so wontedly used as coffee descriptors, and, mostly, people really enjoy it when they are present. So we thought: nut butters are delicious, and coffees can be nutty – can we make something that is coffee’s weightier impression of peanut butter?

PEANUT BUTTER ESPRESSO

When we started thinking well-nigh coffee as Peanut Butter, we did a little around-the-world tour. Tasting our way from Costa Rica to Uganda and when to Guatemala to bring together Buena Vista from Huehuetenango and introduce a new coffee, Las Brisas from Jalapa, an emerging speciality region.

Quite variegated from other coffee-producing areas in Guatemala, Jalapa is pristine and untouched, buzzing with wild animals and birds. A unconfined representation of the flavour profile we’ve found in that region, Las Brisas gives our Peanut Butter tousle its whet with its deep nutty sweetness and rich, linty texture.

One of our most recent filter coffees in shop, you can taste and compare the two very variegated interpretations and how Las Brisas transforms from filter to espresso side by side. As a filter, we wanted to highlight its elegant venom and, for Peanut Butter, the focus was to overdraw its mouthfeel and texture to the fullest – the perfect match to the archetype peanut vitreous notes and silky smooth honey texture Buena Vista has to offer.

HOW TO DIAL IN PEANUT BUTTER

Intentionally roasted to overdraw the texture of the blend, we tweaked our regular recipe slightly. To get all the peanut velvety texture and unshared praline Snickers bar nuttiness, we recommend pulling a slightly shorter shot using a 1:1.5 mash ratio.

Recipe:

Dose – 18g

Yield – 27g

Time – 30 -35 seconds.

Brilliant, with dairy or non-dairy milk, Peanut Butter makes a succulent iced latte. And whatever you do, don’t forget the affogatos! A limited-run espresso, get yours today!
